The management of large numbers of containerized applications in a complex distributed system is not a trivial problem. Container orchestration systems have been created to address this need. Kubernetes provides a set of tools for automating container management tasks including load balancing, service discovery, self-healing, and secret/configuration management.
This paper provides an overview of the Kubernetes container orchestration system (k8s); explains how to create k8s deployments and services for RTI Connext applications; and highlights use cases and examples that demonstrate how Connext application designers can make use of advanced k8s container management capabilities.
