Training warfighters to a level where their reaction time and skills become reflexive and sharpened occurs through repeated practice. To achieve this, Modeling, Simulation and Training (MS&T) systems require a modern field training model that provides quickly deployable, safe simulated environments. They have to be assembled and reconfigured in a fast, ad-hoc manner from ready-made, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components with response times closely matching actual scenario requirements. But, getting that done with distributed components, each with its unique set of disparate technologies, can prove challenging.
This paper discusses how a standards-based communications framework can provide the necessary framework for modern warfare training. It leverages a secure data architecture to address the challenges of integrating a wide range of MS&T systems, resulting in accelerated development and delivery of impactful training simulations.
